Underwear as Outerwear

Underwear as outerwear cover
Just a quick post today from our local. I roped my other half into joining me after work for a quick pint to make the most of the sunshine. He kindly took these snaps for me, but as you’ll see further below, they didn’t all turn out quite right! I thought I’d keep them in though, to show the lighter side of blogging.

Before the outtakes though, let’s talk about dressing for work in a heatwave. These trousers have appeared a couple of times on the blog now (here and here), so I’ll just say again that they’re hugely comfortable, light and practical, and that I’m totally ok with an elasticated waistband in my thirties.
This camisole top is the star of my outfit though. I’m a huge fan of silk as a fabric in general. It’s breathable, light, surprisingly resilient, and a bit magic in both hot and cold climates. This silk camisole just happens to be from now-defunct lingerie outlet La Senza. I worked for La Senza briefly over the Christmas season and picked up many bargains, this top being one of them. Sure, it’s designed to be worn in the bedroom to look cute and playful, but I feel like hiding this piece behind closed doors would be a crime! The delicate rose applique and tied halterneck strap are pretty features for a summers day. There’s a subtle double-flared hemline and it covers enough to pass over as outerwear and not underwear!
A brief mention must go to this ancient crochet shrug which has seen me through countless summers. It’s quite heavy, but since the weave is so large it manages not to add too much warmth on a balmy evening. These leather gladiator sandals have also lasted an age. They’re from Primark of all places, and I can’t begin to imagine how many miles they’ve covered. One of the straps has broken, but over howevermany years I’d say that’s pretty impressive, especially from a brand not known for its quality.
Onto the outtakes! I’m so used to taking my own pictures that I sometimes struggle to pose when someone else is holding a camera! My fella particularly likes to take pictures at the most inopportune moment, when I’m pulling the silliest of faces (see bottom picture). He also cracks me up, as you can see below. I wanted to keep these shots in because it’s boring being serious all the time! Sometimes it’s nice to just chill out and have a laugh with your loved ones. After all, isn’t that what life’s about?
