White Jeans, ruffles and brown accessories

I just about managed to catch the last of the sunshine, which naturally means there’s a strange colour cast over these shots. As usual! This black and white checked top was a recent purchase from Zara, and is my first foray into ruffles. I really love it, but I still think it looks better in real life than it does in pictures. I’ve teamed it with these white jeans which are everywhere this season. I’m really keen to get my hands on a wider leg cropped pair for a more flattering cut. For now though, I’m enjoying wearing these skinnies for a lighter spring look. Continue reading “White Jeans, ruffles and brown accessories”

Red, White, Black and Leopard Print

These cropped red trousers are probably one of the most comfortable items in my wardrobe right now. I never thought I would be reaching for an elasticated waist in my 30s, but there you go. Last time I wore these trousers, I paired them with a pink jacket. My love of the pink and red trend is strong, but here I’ve gone back to one of my favourite combos. Red, white, black and leopard print are probably the most worn colours and print in my wardrobe and I love how they can be styled for every season.  Continue reading “Red, White, Black and Leopard Print”

Super Shiny Shoes

I am so excited to finally be wearing these shiny shoes! They were part of my big Christmas season sale shopping, and they’re the last item I’ve got around to wearing. These photos don’t really do justice to just how shiny these block heels are. They’re like a mirror! I was drawn to them like a magpie because they’re so shiny. They’ve sat in my shoe cupboard for a good few months though as they’re quite fancy for every day wear. I wore them eventually as I wass going for lunch at the lovely Michelin starred Kitchen W8 in Kensington.  Continue reading “Super Shiny Shoes”

Pink and Red again, this time with Butterflies

Pink and red and butterflies cover

I don’t think I’ve ever been into a trend as much as this clashing of pink and red that’s everywhere at the moment. I’m not sure why, perhaps it’s because there are so many pieces available, that there’s something in either pink or red to suit everyone’s tastes? This time the combo I’ve gone for is quite subtle. With the jacket on the cardigan is hidden, so the colour clash is only visible when the jacket is being carried. Luckily, it’s been so warm lately that I didn’t really need to wear the jacket at all!  Continue reading “Pink and Red again, this time with Butterflies”

Another pleated midi skirt

Since I started blogging, there’s one store that kept popping up on my radar, and it was called & Other Stories. So many of my favourite bloggers would keep linking items from the high street store that looked great. I had a look on their website, but I really wanted to be able to try things on t get an idea of fit. I also only very recently discovered that they are in fact the sister store to H&M, which is one of my favourite budget high street shops. I’m sure you all already know, but a quick look into the history of the H&M informed me that Cos, Weekday, Monki and more are all part of the brand’s family. Every day’s a school day. Continue reading “Another pleated midi skirt”

Layering with velvet and lace

I picked up this Mango dress in one of my online shopping sprees over the Christmas season. It sat in my wardrobe for months, as I just couldn’t work out how to style it. Last season’s velvet trend was a favourite of mine, and this midnight blue dress seemed like a perfect addition to my collection. These pictures don’t do justice to the deep blue colour. The lace hem detailing is beautiful, and the length is great for a transitional piece. Continue reading “Layering with velvet and lace”

Sleeveless Coat Take 2

Not long ago, I posted about wearing this sleeveless coat for the first time. I didn’t realise when I took today’s pictures that I’ve opted for the same colour scheme for its second outing. It seems my love for burgundy and grey runs deep. The weather was a little brighter today, so rather than tights and a fluffy knit, I went for a floaty vest top and jeans. A sleeveless coat does require sleeves, though, and it’s this age old cardigan from trusty M&S that provides that necessary extra layer. I remember buying this cardigan in a charity shop years ago when it suddenly got chilly in the summer. Little did I realise how much of a wardrobe staple it would become! Floral Culotte Jumpsuit

If you’d told me a few years ago that I would buy a floral culotte jumpsuit on a whim, I would have laughed. Before I fell in love with Instagram and the world of the fashion blog, I took very little notice of trends. When I did, it was to scoff at “fashion victims” and be smug in the knowledge that I always looked terrible, and had no knowledge of what was on trend at any given time. The Sleeveless Coat

I can’t believe it’s March and I’m still working through my sale haul from the New Year! I guess that just goes to show how much wear I get out of my favourite pieces. Also, it might give an indication of how nervous I am to try new looks. In my defence, it’s not been warm enough to wear a coat without sleeves until now. I’d been on the lookout for a sleeveless coat for a while, and when I saw this one in the Next sales just after Christmas I knew it had to be mine. The fabric is a really heavy mix which I really like. It also hangs quite long on me, which I think works well for a chilly spring day. Continue reading “The Sleeveless Coat”
