The shorts that started out long

    Shorts cover

Ah, these shorts caused me all manner of amusement, long before I’d actually put them on!. I’d been after a pair of smarter shorts for ages. Our office dress code is very relaxed, but the teeny tiny hotpants in my wardrobe remain reserved for festivals and beaches. I had tried on a few pairs of tailored shorts on the high street and they just didn’t fit right. One day, I was browsing ASOS and when I saw these Vila shorts on sale I was sure they were what I’d been searching for all along. It took rather longer than I’d hoped to discover that this was in fact true!

    Simple Summer Sundress

    Sundress cover

Just a quick post today whilst the sunshine lasts! I wore this same dress and cardigan on a chilly day back in March, styled up for the late winter weather. Now the sun is out, this sundress is such an easy piece to throw on without having to think too much about putting an outfit together. One of my favourite things about dresses is how easy they are to wear. Although I wear a lot of separates, I often find it hard to pair the right tops with the right bottoms. With a dress, there’s no need to worry about matching as it’s already done for you!

Pink and Red again, this time with Butterflies

Pink and red and butterflies cover

I don’t think I’ve ever been into a trend as much as this clashing of pink and red that’s everywhere at the moment. I’m not sure why, perhaps it’s because there are so many pieces available, that there’s something in either pink or red to suit everyone’s tastes? This time the combo I’ve gone for is quite subtle. With the jacket on the cardigan is hidden, so the colour clash is only visible when the jacket is being carried. Luckily, it’s been so warm lately that I didn’t really need to wear the jacket at all!

    Double Velvet

    Double Velvet cover

This luscious green velvet skirt has appeared on the blog a couple of times before. I’ve mentioned that it’s a little too big, and I usually style it by folding the waistband and tucking it into a thick waist belt. Here I’ve gone for a more relaxed option, wearing it without a belt and layering a simple sweater over the top.

Mixing Prints – Stars and Zebra

Mixing Prints - Stars and zebra cover
I spend a lot of time looking for inspiration on Instagram, reading blogs or just in the street. One of the things I often wish is that I could be more adventurous with my outfits. Some of my favourite blogs like Pages By Megan and The Girl Who Lived For Clothes always feature bold, adventurous, eclectic outfits. Then there’s the likes of Lucy at Fashion Me Now and Sheryl at Walk In Wonderland who have a more subtle vibe, but often include statement pieces and quirky extras. The trouble I often face is the panic that everyone will laugh at me. I just don’t yet possess the confidence to throw on a Susie Bubble-esque ensemble and strut to work without a care in the world.
