Mixing Prints – Stars and Zebra

I spend a lot of time looking for inspiration on Instagram, reading blogs or just in the street. One of the things I often wish is that I could be more adventurous with my outfits. Some of my favourite blogs like Pages By Megan and The Girl Who Lived For Clothes always feature bold, adventurous, eclectic outfits. Then there’s the likes of Lucy at Fashion Me Now and Sheryl at Walk In Wonderland who have a more subtle vibe, but often include statement pieces and quirky extras. The trouble I often face is the panic that everyone will laugh at me. I just don’t yet possess the confidence to throw on a Susie Bubble-esque ensemble and strut to work without a care in the world.

A Week In The French Alps

Alps

It’s not strictly fashion, but since I’ve not really been able to post anything for the past week or so, I thought I’d write a quick round up of my fantastic holiday to the French Alps. I know it’s not really normal for a 32 year old to go on holiday with her parents, but I don’t get to see my folks that often, so a week on the slopes is the perfect chance for me to spend some quality time catching up and getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. White Denim and Leopard Print

When I wrote the title to this post, I had a little chuckle to myself. White denim and leopard print conjure up images in my head of Eastenders, the 80’s and Pretty Woman, and not at all in a good way. But I’m hoping here, that even with the whitest of white jeans and furry leopard print ankle boots, I’ve managed to look at least acceptable for the office on a sunny spring day.  Continue reading “White Denim and Leopard Print”

Mixing Patterns – Spots, Stripes, Checks and Leopard

We’re in that time of transitional weather, where spring is desperately trying to show its wonderful face, but winter is stubbornly refusing to leave. The key  to dressing during these changing seasons is layering. As someone who is a fan of eclectic style over minimalism, I love to mix up different pieces with a mish-mash of textures and styles. I started out with the polka dot top and striped tube skirt for this look. Once I realised I’d picked out tights with a subtle diagonal check too, I decided to go all out and mix up my patterns even more. Sparkly Green Loafers and a Velvet Cami

I’m wearing two new(ish) items here that I’ve not yet featured on the blog. This velvet cami and sparkly green loafers were both purchases from my big post-Christmas sale shopping adventure. I’ve worn the top once before but didn’t get a chance to photograph it. I love the feel of the velvet and the deep forest green colour. The sheer fabric at the neckline mixes up the textures and adds a unique touch. The velvet fabric of this top seems to be cut ever so slightly on the diagonal, which means it really wants to twist when you wear it. Whilst that’s not the end of the world, it is slightly annoying and requires fairly constant adjustment. Continue reading “Sparkly Green Loafers and a Velvet Cami”

Black and White, Lace and a Gucci Belt

My Gucci belt finally arrived from Vestiare Collective! If you follow me on Twitter,  you might have seen my excitement waiting for this to arrive. It was my first time purchasing anything through Vestiare Collective, and although it took quite a long time to be delivered, I’m very happy with the service. I would definitely trust them as a company from which to purchase second hand high end items again. Continue reading “Black and White, Lace and a Gucci Belt”

Butterfly Dress and Denim Jacket – Spring is on its way!

I’d forgotten how much I like this butterfly print dress I picked up last summer. I remember being undecided about which size to get, being a bit in between sizes when I tried it on. I eventually went for the smaller of the two, and I’m really glad I did. After bursting out of another dress last week, I’ve been feeling a bit low in terms of my size, health and fitness in general. It’s definitely been a good start to the week to be able to fit into a smaller dress and being reminded that a broken zip doesn’t necessarily indicate an enormous size gain. Old Clothes, New Outfit

I’ve worn every item in this post hundreds of times, but never together! The burgundy knit from last winter is the newest piece here, and it’s featured many times over on my Instagram. I’m also wearing my go-to block heeled ankle boots, which have had A LOT of wear over the years. This thin Mac from Primark was a bargain buy ages ago, and whilst I’d like to invest in a higher quality version, I’ve yet to find something that I’m willing to splash out on when this one does the job pretty well. Finally, this printed light cotton skirt: I’m wearing in my Twitter profile pic, and it must be at least 10 years old now!  Continue reading “Old Clothes, New Outfit”
