Retro Tuesdays – The Lindy Bop Dress

Retro Tuesdays Lindy Bop Dress cover

This gorgeous purple swing dress has featured on the blog once before, but in much more wintery conditions. This time, I wanted to show it as a casual summer piece in the late afternoon sunshine. This jersey dress is from the Lindy Bop’s “Made in Britain” collection which is slightly more expensive than their other lines, but still so affordable! This was in the sale too, at a rather ridiculous £16. It’s stretchy with no fastenings, so really easy to throw on in the hotter months. I’m glad I sized down as it comes up large (like most Lindy Bop dresses).

The Wide Leg Crop – Denim Edition

    Wide Leg Crop Denim cover

Last week, I wrote about my newfound love for a wide leg cropped pair of trousers. This week I’m in the same style, but with this indigo denim pair from trusty Marks & Spencer. They’ve appeared on the blog a couple of times before, and I always seem to style them the same way. The waistband sits at the perfect height for tucking in a fitted tee, or a jersey vest like this one below.

    The Wide Leg Crop

    Wide Leg Crop cover

Perpetually behind in the world of fashion trends, I have only really just got into the wide leg crop. But boy am I into it now, a couple of years after it was first “a thing”. A wide leg is comfortable and flattering, and easier to find a good fit than its skinny counterpart. The slight crop (very slight on me as I’m on the shorter side) flashes a bit of ankle for a more summery vibe. Most styles around in stores at the moment are high waisted, which totally works for me. For someone my height, a wide leg crop with a regular rise might make me look rather stumpy. Topshop call theirs awkward trousers, which amuses me greatly.

The shorts that started out long

    Shorts cover

Ah, these shorts caused me all manner of amusement, long before I’d actually put them on!. I’d been after a pair of smarter shorts for ages. Our office dress code is very relaxed, but the teeny tiny hotpants in my wardrobe remain reserved for festivals and beaches. I had tried on a few pairs of tailored shorts on the high street and they just didn’t fit right. One day, I was browsing ASOS and when I saw these Vila shorts on sale I was sure they were what I’d been searching for all along. It took rather longer than I’d hoped to discover that this was in fact true!
